Golden Glow: Transform Your Skin With Turmeric And An Anti-Inflammatory Detox
Tonight is the last fast and tomorrow the last day of my 30 Day Anti-Inflammatory Detox and Intermittent Fasting commitment! It seems like a lifetime ago that I was chowing down on a whopping vegan burger with onion rings, poutine and spicy caesars (talk about a last supper.) If you’ve been following my journey on Instagram and reading my weekly Turmeric Tuesday posts then you know I am feeling truly amazing and guess what? People are literally stopping to tell me that I am GLOWING.
Before you ask if it’s the turmeric mask patina (as I type this at my desk my face is glowing orange with a turmeric and honey mask I whipped up in my kitchen just a few seconds ago), the answer is no – it’s the weeks of eating incredibly clean, fasting 16 hours a day, nourishing my body with anti-inflammatory superfoods and putting pure Shot of Gold turmeric in everything. I’ve also been biking everywhere, exercising regularly and only allowing positive thoughts in my mind and positive vibes around me (don’t ever doubt the power of energy!)
Part of why I was so excited about committing to 30 days instead of 14 (the latter of which I did back in the spring) was to see if my problem skin would see the same kind of life-changing breakthrough that I’ve experienced with my energy levels, positivity, and weight loss. If you’ve battled with skin problems like I have, you know how utterly frustrating and depressing it can be to face the world.
About a week and a half ago, friends, acquaintances and even total strangers were exclaiming about my glow and how incredible my skin is. Imagine! These are magical words that I’ve only dreamt of hearing. Better yet? I can see the transformation in my very own mirror. The redness and inflammation in my face are nearly gone, acne has almost completely cleared up, scarring is decreasing and my skin looks and feels smooth and dewy. In short, I am glowing! Yes!
I thought this would be the perfect time to share some other tips for transforming your skin and to link back to some turmeric skincare recipes that are super simple but seriously powerful.
· Use Bragg’s apple cider vinegar on a cotton pad at night after washing your face with a gentle cleanser, as you would a toner. Make sure you shake the bottle vigorously first to get “the mother” on your face.
· Follow ACV toning with a light application of pure cold-pressed coconut oil all over your face and neck, massaging upwards.
· I’ve also been using Toronto-based Niu Body’s Rose Toning Mist and Glow Facial Serum – they’re amazing! Natural, vegan and a start-up founded by two Toronto ladies.
· Go bare-faced as often as you can! Try using less and less foundation as you see your skin improving.
· SMILE! Be happy! Glow from the inside out.
