This incredibly creamy and delicious cheezy sauce made me feel like I was cheating on my 30 Day Detox but – surprise, surprise – it’s actually super nutritious and oh-so-easy to make. I used to be a cheese addict (we’re talking breakfast, lunch, and dinner) but ever since I switched to a plant-based lifestyle I use cashews and nutritional yeast to make cheezy magic at home from scratch.
I love to pour this salty golden sauce over lightly steamed cauliflower and quinoa, showering everything in nutty hemp hearts. Swoon. This would also make for a killer vegan mac n’ cheeze (when paired with non-wheat pasta like brown rice or quinoa), cheezy popcorn, pretzel dip, on top of tofu, in a vegan burger or hot dog… Once you taste it you’ll see what I mean, it takes practically anything to a whole other level. Add one Shot of Gold Turmeric and Black pepper shot to this sauce to make it an anti-inflammatory powerhouse! The piperine in the black pepper makes the curcumin 2000% more bioavailable and the nutritional yeast is packed with B vitamins. Tastes like you should feel guilty but this Golden Cheezy Sauce is in fact, a delicious detox-approved staple. Bon appetit!
Shot of Gold Golden Cheezy Sauce
· 1 ½ cups soaked cashews (preferably overnight or 4 hours in boiling water)
· ½ cup nutritional yeast flakes (I love the brand Bragg’s)
· 100ml extra virgin olive oil
· 3-4 large cloves of garlic
· 1 tablespoon pink Himalayan salt
· 1 Shot of Gold Turmeric and Black pepper shot
· 1/3 cup water
Blend all ingredients in a bullet and enjoy! If you have the Shot of Gold Turmeric and Pink Himalayan shots then add 1/8 teaspoon of freshly cracked black pepper and extra pink salt to taste if so desired.
