What’s the status of your business? Did you have to pivot, go online, temporarily close?

Funnily enough, we had an astrologer pick a good “launch” date for our business Adapt Daily. We had originally planned on going live in January of 2020, but we were advised - by the stars, ha! - to wait it out until March 31st 2020. This is the time in which my business partner and I are apparently in better business cycles.

Our astrologer didn’t mention anything about the world being in a pandemic or anything!

Needless to say, it wasn’t our intention to launch under such uncertainty but I still consider myself incredibly lucky. We have our first batch of our adaptogen gummies 100% produced, packaged and ready to sell - with no further supplies or labour required to get these nourishing, restorative herbs into the hands of those who need it most (other than shipping of course - PS. THANK YOU Canada Post for still being amazing through this!)

Yes, all of our in-person events as well as our entire plan around retail sales has taken a flop for the moment BUT we are thankful for the incredible virtual world - in which e-commerce will be our gateway to keep on keeping on.

What’s been the hardest part of this pandemic for you?

After over a year of diligently preparing myself to finally walk into some of my favourite health food and supplement stores: day dreaming of that extraordinary moment when I step into familiar territory - except, this time, not just as a loyal customer, but as a SUPPLIER! A FOUNDER! A BUSINESS PARTNER! Well, the day came... except they are closed, ha! And those that ARE open are understandably dismissive of even the idea of something new. “People aren’t buying new products right now.” “We’re not planning anything new right now.” “We’re not taking on new prospects/meetings/etc.”

All that dreaming of my NEW incredible addition to the world. Those dreams of having people get TOO excited about now being able to take adaptogens in an all NEW form.

Yeah, NEW is no longer on the table. Only the absolute necessary, familiar essentials are what retailers are interested in at the moment. This hurts, but I get it. I trust my moment to shine with these big guys will come when the time is right.

What can we as a community do for you?

I don’t feel comfortable asking for anything at this time! We are all navigating a new normal. If you fancy herbal support through “adapting” to this new normal, sure - I ask that you invest in yourself and supplement with AdaptDaily, but the best thing you can do - with or without herbal gummies - is stay positive, and remember that smiles are still totally safe.

What advice would you give women?

I’d invite them to ask themselves how they can use this time to go inwards and prepare for the next chapter ahead. They are already perfect and there’s room for improvement.

What is your greatest hope right now?

We’ll each come out of this situation with a restored sense of self, gratitude, and mindfulness for the beauty in the simplicity of the present moment - no frills required.

What are the 3 things keeping you sane?

1. Online yoga classes - thank you Peloton

2. Self-discipline and abiding by my set-schedule. Just because I’m not “going out” (to events/meetings/etc.) it’s still been incredibly helpful to stay diligent about how I schedule and spend each and every day, with intention and structure.
